RULES BRIEFING For New Members

.

Dagorhir uses costuming and weapons to promote an exciting medieval environment that will be fun for our participants. Good costuming adds flavor, color and personality to what would otherwise be just a sport. Basic costume requirements are simple: a tunic and leggings. We've included detailed instructions for making a simple tunic here. There are entire websites dedicated to fantasy/medieval costuming, and to include an entire treatise here would be redundant. We will add links to good sites for your convenience.

Dagorhir rules require our participants use safe weaponry. Weapons are submitted to a mandatory safety check before every event, and our membership is extremely conscientious about the quality of their equipment.  In twenty-four years as an established medieval combat organization there have been no significant injuries caused by a safe, checked weapon. Safe and padded weaponry allows for an all-out, hard-hitting combat system at relatively low cost.

There are several "How To" pages included here that provide detailed instructions on building Dagorhir weaponry, including swords, spears, and axes. We'll also be adding detailed instructions for arrows, daggers, and shields. In the meantime, we've linked to various designs have been posted on the sites of Dagorhir Chapters throughout the country. Many alternate designs are allowed and in use, but the designs presented on this site are a recognized universally as a Dagorhir standard and are highly recommended for safety and longevity. Special thanks to Scion d'Ur for his incredible contribution in developing many of these pages, instructions, and splendid graphics.  Also special thanks to Brother Nolen for his detailed and helpful mace instructions and Al'Kazar of Caledon for compiling a truly great weapons smithing resource. These contributions are adornments to the Dagorhir website.   Finally, a huge thanks to Eryndor for the development of comprehensive weapons designs and tutorials on the Eryndor website.
